Frostburg State University serves as the host institution for the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) serving Washington, Allegany, and Garrett Counties. Through a strong regional footprint, including consultants embedded within the economic development office in Allegany and Washington Counties and at Garrett College, the SBDC supports local economic growth by helping small businesses start, grow and succeed.
The SBDC provides confidential consulting and targeted training programs across the region, equipping entrepreneurs and small business owners with the knowledge, tools, and resources needed to launch, sustain and expand their businesses.
Core areas of support include:
*Assisting clients in securing traditional and alternative sources of funding.
*Supporting business transition, including buying and selling existing businesses.
*Helping entrepreneurs move ideas from concept to market-ready products.
Coming in 2026: Expanded credit repair and financial readiness services to help clients improve creditworthiness and prepare to successfully apply for capital.
