The Maryland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has recognized the Hispanic Business Center's (HBC) with the "Partner of the Year" award for the HBC's efforts in providing in-language (Spanish), one-on-one business consulting at no cost to the client; and low-cost training for every stage of a business which include: steps to starting a business, loan packaging, as well as strategic and succession planning.

On Tuesday, January 28th, 2014, The Maryland Small Business Development Center at UMD (SBDC) and the Korean International Trade Association (KITA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to help facilitate export opportunities for Maryland small businesses. The ceremony was held in the Jeong H. Kim Engineering Building on the University of Maryland, College Park campus and represents an important opportunity for Maryland Businesses.
